Lecture by Camille Mitchell

The second event of the Fall 2024 Series is scheduled for after Study Week, on Monday Oct. 21, 2024 at 5:45 pm in the Lecture Hall. The guest lecturer will be architect Camille Mitchell from SvN – Architects + Planners (Toronto, ON). This lecture is in-person and is presented by the Ontario Association of Architects. It is free and open to all.

In the progressive struggle to build equality and opportunity into the architectural profession, Camille Mitchell is a standout leader. An Architect with the Toronto office of SvN Architects + Planners, Camille leverages her achievements in architecture to advocate for the involvement of under-represented groups in the design of their built environments. Camille is a founding member of the independent organizations Building Equality in Architecture Toronto and Black Architects + Interior Designer Association. Their programs are dedicated to supporting mentorship, networking and leadership opportunities for women and visible minorities within the architecture profession. She was also selected to join the Urban Land Institute’s Women in Leadership Initiative Championship Team. This initiative was created by ULI with a mandate to advance women in real estate and construction through fostering meaningful connections. Camille is the 2022 recipient of the G. Randy Roberts Service Award from the Ontario Association of Architects in recognition of the contributions to the architectural profession. Earlier this year, Camille was awarded the Harry Jerome Award for the Arts by the Black Business Professional Association. The awards honours individuals who exemplify excellence, dedication, and leadership, in recognition of serving as role models within the Black community and beyond.

Please note that this lecture qualifies for two (2) Ontario Association of Architects Continuing Education Structured Learning Hours.
