Lecture by Juan Carlos Portuese
The second event of the Fall 2025 Laurentian Architecture Lecture Series is scheduled for Monday Oct.27 at 5:45 pm in the Lecture Hall. The guest will be architect Juan Carlos Portuese (DIALOG, Toronto, ON). This lecture is presented by the Ontario Association of Architects. It is free and open to all.
Juan Carlos Portuese is a Partner at DIALOG and an award-winning architect with over 24 years of experience leading complex institutional projects across Canada, the United States, and internationally. He holds a Master of Architecture from SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Architecture from Universidad Rafael Urdaneta in Venezuela. His portfolio spans healthcare, higher education, K-12 schools, civic buildings, campus masterplans, and sports and recreation facilities. Recognized for his design leadership and creative vision, Juan Carlos approaches architecture as a cultural practice that enriches human experiences and the environments we inhabit. His work integrates program, site, environmental, and cultural contexts into thoughtful solutions that balance ambition, technical innovation, sustainability, and functionality. He is also known for his expertise in mass timber, high-performance envelopes, and innovative research prototypes. Committed to collaboration, Juan Carlos brings together clients, communities, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve meaningful and enduring outcomes.
Please note that this lecture qualifies for two (2) Ontario Association of Architects Continuing Education Structured Learning Hours.
Juan Carlos will also meet with MSoA students on October 28 (4-6 pm in the Crit Pit) for portfolio reviews. This is intended to help students in finding a co-op placement.
