“Beyond the Divide” by Dr. Tammy Gaber
The MSoA is very proud to announce that Associate Professor Dr.Tammy Gaber’s book ‘Beyond the Divide: A Century of Canadian Mosque Design’ has been published by McGill-Queen’s University Press. Dr.Gaber’s research was supported with two SSHRC grants, by the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, the Noor Cultural centre and the Aga Khan Museum. Dr. Gaber travelled to 53 cities in Canada to document 90 mosques in this unprecedented and comprehensive study. The book documents the trends identified based on site visits and interviews with members of the community, governance and designers. The book includes colour photography taken by Dr.Gaber and architectural drawings of the mosques. Several students were hired as Research Assistants including: Safira Lakhani, Jess Hanzelkova, Breana Chabot, Harrison Lane, Derrick Pilon, and Adrian Hutchison.
Congratulations Dr.Gaber! The link to the book is:
