Lecture by Renée Mailhot

The third event of the Fall 2023 Laurentian Architecture Lecture Series is scheduled for Thursday Oct.19 at 5:40 pm in the Lecture Hall. The guest lecturer will be Renée Mailhot from la Shed Architecture (Montréal, QC). The presentation will be in French, but will include keywords in English in the slideshow.

This lecture is presented by the Ontario Association of Architects. It is free and open to all.

Renée Mailhot graduated with a Master’s degree in architecture from the Université de Montréal in 2008, before co-founding la Shed Architecture in 2009 with two friends and university colleagues, Yannick Laurin and Sébastien Parent. The firm was born of a shared passion for architecture, design and Montréal. With the aim of making architecture accessible to all, the firm chose to set up shop in a storefront location. The studio, visible from the street, is configured to optimize teamwork, an essential strength in stimulating creativity. La Shed’s work has been recognized by a number of specialist magazines and design and architecture awards. The firm was awarded the 2016 Emerging Architectural Firm Award by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), the 2018 Canada Council Ronald J. Thom Award for Early Career Architectural Design, a Governor General’s Medal in Architecture in 2022, and has won several Prix d’excellence en architecture from the Ordre des architectes du Québec (2015, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022).

Please note that this lecture qualifies for two (2) Ontario Association of Architects Continuing Education Structured Learning Hours.
