Sydney Allen is the 2022 recipient of the Ernest Annau Scholarship for Architecture

The MSoA is delighted to share the news that Sydney Allen is this year’s recipient of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts’ Ernest Annau Scholarship for Architecture. This $4000 scholarship provides an opportunity for outstanding students completing their third year of undergraduate study in architecture to undertake informal study and research abroad.

Sydney’s proposal to travel to Iceland to study turf houses and geothermal heating practices stems from her research interest in merging architecture with biology to design in greater harmony with ecosystems. Her ambition is to transfer lessons from the materials, construction methods and vegetation of turf houses to modern ways of designing and building. Congratulations Sydney!
